LULUCF Working Group Reviews Draft Climate Objectives and Actions

The second meeting of the Land Use, Land-Use Change and Forestry (LULUCF) Sector Working Group was held under the ICAT Georgia: Developing a Framework for NDC Tracking and GHG Projections in Priority Sectors project, bringing stakeholders together to review the draft objectives and activities prepared for the sector.

Building on the discussions of the first Working Group meeting, the session focused on the draft sectoral objectives and proposed activities developed for the updated 2035 Climate Change Strategy and the 2027–2029 Climate Action Plan.

Working Group members reviewed the proposed measures and provided technical feedback on their content, scope, and applicability to the LULUCF sector. The discussion considered whether the proposed activities adequately reflect current sectoral priorities and how they can be further refined to support effective implementation and monitoring.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss the links between the proposed objectives and individual activities, as well as the roles of relevant institutions in their implementation. Stakeholder input will be used to further develop the draft measures and ensure that the final set of activities is grounded in sector-specific knowledge and practical considerations.

The second LULUCF Working Group meeting represents a further step in the participatory process for developing the updated Climate Change Strategy and the 2027–2029 Climate Action Plan. The draft objectives and activities will continue to be refined based on stakeholder feedback as the preparation process progresses.

The meeting was held with the support of the Initiative for Climate Action Transparency (ICAT), UNOPS, the UN Environment Programme Copenhagen Climate Centre (UNEP-CCC), and the Regional Environmental Centre for the Caucasus (REC Caucasus).
