Energy Sector Working Group Meeting Held under ICAT Georgia Project

The Energy Sector Working Group meeting was held within the framework of the ICAT Georgia: Developing a Framework for NDC Tracking and GHG Projections in Priority Sectors project, bringing together representatives of relevant government institutions, sector experts, and other stakeholders.

The meeting focused on the draft energy sector objectives and activities prepared for the updated 2035 Climate Change Strategy and the 2027–2029 Climate Action Plan.

Participants reviewed the proposed measures and discussed their relevance to the current priorities of Georgia’s energy sector. Particular attention was given to the scope of the proposed activities, their expected outcomes, implementation considerations, and the roles of responsible institutions.

The discussion also addressed practical aspects of implementing and monitoring the proposed measures. Participants shared technical expertise and provided recommendations for strengthening the draft activities and ensuring that they can be effectively implemented and tracked.

The feedback received during the meeting will be reflected in the further refinement of the Energy sector objectives and activities as the updated Strategy and Action Plan are developed.

The meeting was organized with the support of the Initiative for Climate Action Transparency (ICAT),UNOPS, the UN Environment Program Copenhagen Climate Centre (UNEP-CCC), and the Regional Environmental Centre for the Caucasus (REC Caucasus).
