Global Development, Review and Update of National Implementation Plans (NIPs) under the Stockholm Convention (SC) on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs)

Objectives: The goal of the NIP updating project is to contribute to the efforts of each beneficiary country in implementing the Stockholm Convention and consequently protect human health and the environment from the risks posed by the unsound use, management and release of POPs.
The specific objectives of the project are: The objective of the NIP update is to comply with Article 7 of the Convention that states that Parties shall “review and update, as appropriate, its implementation plan on a periodic basis and in a manner to be specified by the decision of the Conference of the Parties.” The second objective of the project is to support compliance with Article 15 of the Convention and to improve submission and quality of national reporting by facilitating collection of national data including the new POPs.
