REC Caucasus Launched Final Regional Conference within

“Strengthen Cleaner Production policy and practice in the South Caucasus countries through applying integrated and preventive environmental strategy” Project

On June 26-27, 2014, REC Caucasus launched two-days regional conference within its project “Strengthen Cleaner Production policy and practice in the South Caucasus countries through applying integrated and preventive environmental strategy” funded by Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment of Netherlands at Hotel “TORI”, Tbilisi, Georgia.

The conference was attended by the representatives of the government sector; Ministries of the Environment and Economy of three South Caucasus countries, international organizations, relevant NGOs and SMEs, national project implementing team, other CP related key national and regional stakeholders.

The regional conference aimed to outline current needs and interests of the stakeholders from the project countries, provide the representatives of international organizations and donors with project results, main outcomes, best practices and lessons learned as well as exchange experience on Strengthen cleaner production policy and practice in the South Caucasus countries through applying integrated and preventive environmental strategy. The main objective of the conference was an introduction of the project outputs to major stakeholders and interested parties, presenting and discussing countries’ national policy and legal frameworks analysis on Cleaner Production, discussing package of recommendations for further improvements.

During the conference national reports, latest results and further activities were presented by project national experts.

During the conference UNIDO national coordinators from Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia of “Regional Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production Demonstration Component” of EU EaP GREEN Program have presented the project aim, objectives and expected outcomes.

During the conference the Cleaner Production in South Caucasus web-site (http://www.rec-caucasus.org/cp/) was launched. The web-site aims to provide virtual tools for broad and mutually beneficial participation of different data-users and holders such as SMEs, decision makers, business, financial institutions, scientific and educational institutions, non-governmental organizations and wide society.
